Katherine Johnson, American mathematician who calculated and analyzed the flight paths of many spacecraft during her more than three decades with the U.S. space program. Her work helped send astronauts to the Moon. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015.

In 1918 Agnes Meyer Driscoll, a mathematician and physicist, enlisted in the US Navy and began a groundbreaking career in codebreaking. Assigned to the Code and Signal Section, she quickly gained recognition, earning names such as Miss Aggie and Madame X. Her work included developing a cipher device and cracking several Japanese naval codes, providing crucial intelligence in the years before World War II. She also mentored many future codebreakers and was posthumously inducted into the NSA Hall
