This isn't their first rodeo! Anesthesiologists are onto our tricks as orthopedic surgeons regarding the predicted lengths of surgeries! In general, if they hear a case is going to be "quick" and only last 15 minutes, they plan for a potential marathon, which is wise. Although sometimes we are able to do fracture cases quickly and in a predictable timeframe, in many instances they can take longer.
